Frans Cromme

Frans Cromme

CEO

Frans is a senior commercial executive with 20+ years of experience in the diagnostic, pharmaceutical and medical devices industry. He has had leadership roles in sales, general management, marketing and R&D, and has lived and worked in various countries in Europe and Latin America. Frans has a Masters degree in Molecular Biology and a PhD in Oncology.

Jorrit Kelderman

Jorrit Kelderman

CFO

Jorrit is an experienced Chief Financial Officer with a demonstrated history of working in the medtech device industry. He holds an Executive Master in Finance & Control (RC) from Nyenrode Business University and a Master in Economics from VU University. With his in-depth experience in acquisitions, post-merger integration, financing and performance management, Jorrit brings significant international experience from the US, the UK and Japan to the management team at ViCentra.

Sarah Lee

Sarah Lee

HR Manager

Travel lover Sarah graduated from Northumbria University with a 2:1 Honours degree in Law, a four year programme which integrated the LPC and gave her a practical and knowledgeable basis for her future in HR. Following her studies, Sarah joined the graduate trainee programme at Hays, the world’s leading specialist recruitment agency, where her performance quickly placed her in the top 10% of the UK division and led to fast track promotions. Sarah has a keen interest in people-centred management and was drawn to ViCentra by the opportunity to be involved in HR at an early stage. Now responsible for all aspects of our HR, including recruitment, Sarah is always on the lookout for innovative, talented and fun people to join the ViCentra family.

Ruairi Duffy

Ruairi Duffy

VP of Research and Development

Ruairi Duffy, ViCentra’s new VP of Research and Development, is an experienced product, people and technology leader. Prior to accepting this position Ruairi worked as CTO at NightBalance and previously as Head of Medical Device Engineering at Merck. Ruairi brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in successful design and medical device product development which will be invaluable to ViCentra’s future success.

Tim Oakes

Tim Oakes

CTO and Co-Founder

From a young age, Tim could usually be found surrounded by tools and prototypes, building his own boats and rigging elaborate zip lines in his garden. Now an award-winning design engineer, Tim has over seven years’ experience in the medical device field, working on projects as diverse as drug delivery platforms to laparoscopic surgical instruments. Having grown up with a father with Type 1 diabetes, Tim has first-hand knowledge of the challenges of trying to incorporate complex medical devices into daily life and is driven by a deep desire to create products that help make life easier.

Sophia Lam

Sophia Lam

VP of Regulatory & Quality

Sophia is an experienced Quality & Regulatory Affairs professional with over 23 years of experience in leading quality organizations in the medical device industry. She has demonstrated success in designing global quality management systems through the appropriate use of risk management philosophy and brings significant experience in leading organizations in the preparation of regulatory filing, regulatory inspections, product development, remediation projects and continuous improvement actions to ViCentra.

Stuart Welland

Stuart Welland

CCO

Stuart has 24 years’ experience in the medical device industry holding senior Commercial leadership positions across multiple geographies. This includes 17 years at Medtronic where he led Sales, Marketing and Customer Care teams in their Cardiac Surgery and Diabetes divisions. Stuart brings significant experience in setting strategic vision, maximizing growth of innovative technologies and developing high performing teams including distributor management. Stuart holds a Bachelor’s degree in International. Business & French from Aston University, England & Ecole Superieure de Commerce, Bordeaux.

Michael Webb

Michael Webb

VP of Manufacturing

With Michael Webb joining ViCentra, the company gained an engaged leader with 15+ years Class III medical device experience from advanced product development to commercialization. His experience ranges from working with small individual contributors to multidisciplinary engineering teams as well as scaling operations from R&D to commercial manufacturing platforms, in start-up business to most recently as Director of Engineering at Medtronic. At ViCentra, Michael greatly strengthens the leadership team with his proven track record as a dynamic manufacturing and.technicoperations leader, adept in Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Business Development and Strategy Execution.

Our board

Jan Keltjens

Chairman

As well as chairing the Board of ViCentra, Jan Keltjens currently holds a number of other non-executive Board roles, including Chairman of the Boards of JenaValve Technologies and NightBalance. He was promoted to Vice President of European Marketing for all Cordis divisions in 1998 and Vice President of Worldwide Strategic Marketing for Cordis Cardiology, based in Miami, in 1999. Before joining Cordis, Jan led research and development departments at Unilever and was Managing Director of a group of small high tech companies.

Thijs Cohen Tervaert

Non-executive Board Member

Thijs Cohen Tervaert is a Director at INKEF. Thijs currently also serves on the board of Castor EDC (Netherlands). Prior to INKEF, Thijs was a strategy consultant at the Boston Consulting Group with a focus on health care and technology. He worked on projects for pharmaceutical companies, hospitals and insurers. During a one year secondment, Thijs helped to establish the Amsterdam Health and Technology Institute in 2014. Thijs is a medical doctor and graduated at Leiden University. He has also co-authored several scientific papers.

Anne Portwich

Non-executive Board Member

Anne Portwich, PhD, is a Partner of LSP and has been with the firm since 2001. Anne currently serves on the supervisory boards of Mint Solutions (Netherlands) and Neuravi (Ireland). Previous board positions include Sapiens Steering Brain Stimulation (acquired by Medtronic in 2014), ActoGeniX (acquired by Intrexon in 2015) and Nexstim (IPO in 2014). Anne is a jury member of New Venture, a business plan competition for start-up companies in the Netherlands as well as a member of the evaluation panel for Tekes’ Young Innovative Growth Companies (YIC) funding program in Finland. Anne obtained an MSc in biochemistry from the University of Hanover and received her PhD from the Max Planck-Institute of Marine Microbiology in Bremen.

Jörg Neermann

Non-executive Board Member

Jörg Neermann, PhD, joined LSP as a Partner in 2007 and is based in LSP’s Munich office. Prior to joining LSP, Jörg was the Managing Director of Deutsche Bank’s Venture Capital franchise DVC, where he ran its healthcare investments for more than eight years. Previously, he worked at Atlas Ventures in Germany where he also invested in the healthcare sector. He served as a Director on the supervisory boards of a large number of companies, many of which went public or were sold to larger companies. Among others, Jörg is currently a Director at Probiodrug (a biotech company developing novel Alzheimer’s treatments), EyeSense and Kuros.

Linze Dijkstra

Non-executive Board Member

Linze Dijkstra is a managing partner at Health Innovations and has 20 years of experience in healthcare. Linze sits on the board of ViCentra and is investor director at several of the portfolio companies of Health Innovations, including NovioSense (continuous glucose monitoring), NightBalance (a sleep position trainer for people with sleep apnea) and Stroke2prevent (preventing strokes during cardiac surgery). Prior to Health Innovations, Linze was Director Healthcare at ABN Amro, where he was responsible for the company’s healthcare activities in the Netherlands. Linze also worked as a healthcare-consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers and holds a Master of Science in Business Administration from the University of Twente.

Remmert Laan

Non-executive Board Member

Remmert (Rem) Laan, is President of Diabetes Insights, LLC, a consulting company specialising in marketing and business development for manufacturers of diabetes drugs, devices and apps and he brings expert knowledge of the diabetes market to ViCentra’s Board . Prior to launching Diabetes Insights in 2015, Rem served as Executive Director of the William Sansum Diabetes Center in Santa Barbara, California. He also holds more than 15 years’ experience in diabetes device commercialisation, including insulin pump products. From 2003 to 2013, Rem served in various capacities with Roche Diabetes Care, including Vice President, External Affairs, North America, and Vice President, Insulin Delivery Systems Global Marketing and Reimbursement.

Dr. David Kerr

Dr. David Kerr is Director of Research and Innovation at the William Sansum Diabetes Center, Santa Barbara, CA and Director of mHealth Services for the Diabetes Technology Society. He was previously Consultant Physician at the Bournemouth Diabetes and Endocrine Centre in the UK. Dr. Kerr’s research continues to focus on the use of technology for diabetes care, including the artificial pancreas and the new area of digital health. He is creator and co-founder of Diabetes Travel and ExCarbs, author of more than 200 peer-reviewed articles, Editor-in-Chief for Diabetes Digest (UK), and a regular blogger for the BMJ.

Dr. G. E. M. G. Storms

Dr. G. E. M. G. (Fred) Storms is one of the Netherlands’ leading authorities on the treatment of diabetes mellitus. Medical Director of the Diabetes Care team at St. Antonius Hospital, Utrecht until his retirement in 2016, Dr. Storms holds a special interest in the medical and technical advancements being made to improve diabetes treatment, and, as such, his work has long focussed on encouraging and supporting such advancements. He has participated in multiple international studies, including AT.LANTUS, PROactive, ONTARGET and EMPA-REG, and contributed to several trials of leading insulin pump therapies.
